Fall Decor Trends 2025 (The Ones Interior Designers Are Actually Using)

Cool evenings, warm drinks, crunchy leaves…are you ready for it? Fall is coming soon and so is all the gorgeous, sophisticated home decor that comes with it. But 2025’s fall trends are different. They’re richer, moodier, and honestly more grown-up than what we’ve seen before. Here are my favorite fall decor trends for 2025 and how you can get each look on a budget!

General Fall 2025 decor trends
The 2025 fall decor trends are all about sophisticated coziness. We’re seeing a major shift toward richer, more complex colors like burgundy and chocolate brown, dramatic pattern mixing, and lighting that actually makes a statement. The good news? These trends are actually more timeless than trendy, which means your investment will last for years.
Instead of the obvious fall classics we’re used to seeing:
- Bright orange everywhere
- Pumpkins on every surface
- “Welcome Fall” signs
- Basic orange and red leaf wreaths
This year’s trends lean into elevated autumn vibes that feel sophisticated and intentional:
- Rich burgundy and wine colours
- Dramatic pattern mixing (think pattern drenching!)
- Statement lighting that creates mood
- Luxurious textures like velvet and wool
- Moody earth tones that ground a space
I love this shift because it creates spaces that feel grown-up and collected rather than overly seasonal. Rather than switching out every single accent in your home, these ideas work beautifully year-round with just subtle seasonal adjustments.

A note on home decor trends
As someone who loves art and decorating, I always find researching the latest trends in home decor fascinating. It’s interesting to see what’s gaining in popularity and why, and to experience the shifts in the industry. Personally, I enjoy switching up my decor now and then, so I often incorporate trends in our home IF I love them, if we can afford them, and if they work for our family.
As a general rule, though: you should decorate your home for YOU and YOUR FAMILY aesthetics and taste regardless of what’s trending. If you love a trend, have fun with it and give it a try! If not, decorate your home in a way that makes YOU happy and comfortable.
What I love about 2025’s fall trends is how they feel so much more sophisticated and intentional than seasonal decor of the past. These aren’t trends that will look dated in six months. They’re moving toward timeless elegance that happens to work perfectly for fall.

Where to find decor trends
As someone whose job is to scout out what people love in home decor and DIY, I’m always on the lookout for the new top interior design trends. I find decor trends online and in stores, and here’s where I usually look:
- Social media (what are people sharing and loving on TikTok, Instagram & Pinterest?)
- Google trends (what are people searching for?)
- My favorite home decor stores (what’s new at Pottery Barn, Anthropologie, McGee & Co, Target, and Crate & Barrel, and could I make it for less?)
- Interior designer blogs (what do some of my favorite experts have to say about this season’s trends?)
- High-end design magazines (House Beautiful, Architectural Digest show what’s coming next)
- Design trade shows and market reports (where the real trend predictions happen)
So, let’s talk about what I’ve discovered about fall design styles for 2025 and what you can do to achieve them in your own home, easily and affordably!5 and what you can do to achieve them in your own home, easily and affordably!

Rich Burgundy & Wine Colours
If you’ve been waiting for permission to go bold with color, 2025 is your year! The hottest colour trend for fall isn’t orange or yellow, it’s rich, sophisticated burgundy and wine tones. These deep, complex colors add instant luxury and warmth to any space without feeling overwhelming.
Think deep wine, oxblood, rich burgundy, and even dark plum. These colours work beautifully as accent walls, in textiles, or even on furniture pieces. What I love about these colours is how they feel both dramatic and cozy at the same time.
How to Get This Look on a Budget
- Start with one statement piece: A burgundy throw pillow or wine-coloured candles can introduce the trend without commitment
- Paint a small accent area: Try the inside of a bookshelf or a powder room accent wall; maximum impact for minimal cost
- Swap seasonal textiles: Look for burgundy throw blankets, wine-coloured table runners, or deep plum napkins
- Thrift burgundy accessories: Hit estate sales for burgundy ceramics, wine-colored glassware, or deep red vintage books

Pattern Drenching (The New Colour Drenching)
Move over, colour drenching… pattern drenching is the sophisticated trend taking over fall 2025! This technique involves using the same pattern across multiple surfaces in a room: wallpaper, upholstery, curtains, and even lampshades. When done right, it creates an incredibly cozy, enveloping effect that makes a space feel intentional and designed. I love how Studio McGee applied it in the TikTok above!
The key is choosing one pattern you absolutely love and repeating it in different scales and applications throughout the space. Think floral wallpaper with matching throw pillow fabric, or geometric prints that span from curtains to chair cushions.
How to Get This Look on a Budget
- Start with removable wallpaper: Choose a pattern you love and use it on one accent wall
- Find matching fabric: Look for the same or similar pattern in fabric form for pillows or table runners
- Use the same pattern in different scales: Mix large-scale and small-scale versions of the same print
- Try it in a small space first: A powder room or reading nook is perfect for experimenting with pattern drenching

Statement Lighting That Makes a Scene
Gone are the days of purely functional lighting! Fall 2025 is all about lighting fixtures that are works of art in themselves. We’re seeing sculptural floor lamps, dramatic pendant lights, and architectural sconces that create mood and ambiance.
The goal is to move away from overhead can lights and instead create layers of beautiful lighting that make your space feel warm and inviting. Think brass floor lamps with interesting shapes, vintage-inspired chandeliers, or even dramatic table lamps that cast gorgeous shadows.
How to Get This Look on a Budget
- Shop vintage and thrift stores: Look for unique brass lamps, interesting ceramic table lamps, or sculptural floor lamps
- Transform existing fixtures: Spray paint a basic lamp base with metallic paint for an instant upgrade
- Layer different light sources: Combine table lamps, floor lamps, and candles instead of relying on overhead lighting
- DIY lamp shades: Update boring lamp shades with fabric, paint, or interesting textures

Moody Earth Tones
While burgundy is the star color for 2025, the supporting cast is equally gorgeous. We’re seeing rich chocolate browns, deep forest greens, warm mushroom tones, and sophisticated terracotta shades. These aren’t the bright, cheerful colors of springs past; these are complex, grounding colours that feel like a warm hug.
Wood stains are also going darker and warmer, with rich walnut and deep oak tones replacing the cooler grays we’ve seen in recent years. These colors work beautifully together and create spaces that feel both elegant and welcoming.
How to Get This Look on a Budget
- Paint an accent wall: Choose one rich earth tone for maximum impact with minimal paint
- Refinish a piece of furniture: Update a coffee table or side table with a rich, dark stain
- Add earth-toned textiles: Look for pillows, throws, or curtains in chocolate brown, forest green, or warm terracotta
- Bring in natural elements: Wood cutting boards, stone vessels, and ceramic pieces in earth tones

English Country 2.0
The cottagecore trend is evolving into something more sophisticated for fall 2025: English Country 2.0. This style combines the cozy, collected feeling of traditional English country homes with modern functionality and cleaner lines.
Think comfortable elegance, pieces that look like they’ve been collected over time, and a mix of vintage and new that feels effortless. The key elements include layered textiles, warm wood tones, collected accessories, and spaces that prioritize comfort without sacrificing style. I love how the creator featured in the TikTok above does modern English Country.
How to Achieve English Country 2.0 on a Budget
- Mix vintage and new pieces: Combine thrifted finds with newer basics for that “collected over time” look
- Layer different textures: Combine smooth, rough, soft, and nubby textures throughout the space
- Create cozy reading nooks: Use what you have to create a dedicated spot for relaxation
- Display books and collections: Show off vintage books, ceramic collections, or family heirlooms
- Incorporate natural elements: Fresh flowers, greenery from the yard, or interesting branches in vintage vessels

Vintage Accessories That Tell a Story
The desire for authentic, vintage accessories continues to grow in 2025, but now we’re focusing on pieces that feel like they have stories to tell. Vintage Turkish rugs, antique brass candlesticks, worn leather books, and collected ceramics are all having a major moment.
I love this trend because it encourages thrifting and upcycling, which is so good for our planet (and usually our pocketbook)! The goal is to find pieces that add character and personality to your space rather than perfectly matching accessories.
My Favorite Places for Budget-Friendly Vintage Accessories
- Garage sales: Often the best quality pieces at reasonable prices
- Antique malls: Great for browsing and comparing prices
- Facebook Marketplace: Search for specific items you’re looking for
- Thrift stores: Value Village, Goodwill, and local charity shops

Luxurious Textures That Beg to Be Touched
Fall 2025 is all about textures that make you want to reach out and touch them. We’re seeing lots of velvet, chunky wool, nubby boucle, soft leather, and rich linen. The goal is to create spaces that feel cozy and inviting through the power of texture alone.
Layering different textures is key: think a velvet throw pillow next to a chunky wool blanket, or a smooth leather chair paired with a nubby boucle ottoman. These textures instantly make any space feel more expensive and considered.
How to Add Luxurious Textures on a Budget
- Start with throw pillows: Velvet, boucle, or chunky knit pillow covers are an easy way to add texture
- Layer throws and blankets: Look for different textures in similar colors for a sophisticated layered look
- Shop the clearance sections: End-of-season sales often have beautiful textured pieces at great prices
- Check the clothing section at thrifts: Sometimes you can find beautiful wool sweaters to repurpose as pillow covers
Thrifty Tip: Don’t forget to look in the clothing and blanket sections at thrift stores for pieces you might be able to use as fabric for accent pillows or throws!

Dried Grasses and Sophisticated Florals
The dried floral trend continues into 2025, but it’s getting more sophisticated. Instead of just pampas grass, we’re seeing interesting seed pods, dried hydrangeas, and unique branches that add architectural interest to spaces.
The key is choosing dried elements that feel intentional and artistic rather than just “dried flowers.” Think sculptural branches, interesting grasses, and dramatic dried florals that could almost be considered modern art.
Where to Find Budget-Friendly Dried Elements
- Dry your own: Hang garden flowers, interesting branches, and grasses upside down for a few weeks
- Shop end-of-season sales: Many stores discount dried florals in late fall
- Look for unique elements in nature: Interesting branches, seed pods, and grasses can often be found on walks
- Check craft stores with coupons: Michaels and Hobby Lobby often have sales on dried elements

I wonder if the desire for more simple, natural and thrifted items is a reflection of the current worldwide vibe. We have got through a pandemic, facing inflation and obviously the Russo-Ukraine ware so people are wary, nervous and generally insular. When we are on a “high”, we go for more outlandish, bright, spectacular looks; when on a “low”, we retreat into ourselves.
Just a thought.
It’s a good thought. I have been finding myself bringing all kinds of nature stuff home when I go on walks. I have donated tons of stuff and found things in nature to replace. For example, I found a chunk of a fallen tree that was in a state of decay, it was shaped like a bowl. I brought it home, let it dry out and now I am using it as a bowl and put leaves, pinecones, acorns and other assorted stuff in it. I wonder if in addition to the social upheaval if we aren’t just getting sick to death of all the plastic, manufactured rot that is out there. I know I am. That stuff gets replaced with natural. Gone are the fabrics made of man-made fibers and they are replaced with wool, cotton, linen, flax. This stuff can get expensive new, but you can find some good stuff on ebay and thrift shops. Trip to the dry cleaners and ready to go. I just don’t want man made “junk” around me anymore, so I am making it go away, and replacing it with the real, unprocessed, unfinished, way it was made by Nature. I also decorate with the colors of Nature. I think you are onto something tho. I think we are exhausted and are looking to go “home.” I feel pretty certain that is what is driving me.
These are really great thoughts. Thank you for sharing.
Yes on the dried plants/flowers! They are also still usable even after fall.
