10 Cozy Designer Dupe Christmas DIYs (Anthropologie & Pottery Barn Inspired!)

You know those dreamy Christmas collections from Anthropologie, Pottery Barn, McGee & Co., and West Elm; the ones that make your heart flutter and your wallet cry? Instead of spending a small fortune, I recreated ten of my favourites using Dollar Tree, Amazon, and a few clever tricks. Some turned out even better than the originals… and one took a couple attempts to get right.
If you want a cozy designer look on a budget, these projects are perfect for your Christmas tree, mantel, and holiday tablescape.

1. Pearl-Beaded Ornaments (Anthropologie Inspired)
These look delicate and expensive, but they’re made from inexpensive clear ornaments and faux pearls.
Supplies
– Clear ornaments (Amazon)
– Faux pearls (Amazon – assorted sizes)
– Hot glue gun & glue sticks
– Velvet ribbon (Amazon)
– Jute twine
Instructions
- Add small dots of hot glue to a clear ornament.
- Press faux pearls into the glue one by one, mixing sizes for texture.
- Add a velvet ribbon bow and jute twine loop for hanging.
Styling tip:
These sparkle beautifully at night when placed near tree lights or tucked into garlands.

2. Gingham Bow Ornaments (Anthropologie Inspired)
The originals are $24 each… these cost pennies and look just as sweet.
Supplies
– Gingham fabric or sheet set (Amazon)
– Scissors
– Sewing machine or hot glue
– Pipe cleaners for hanging
Instructions
- Cut fabric into three rectangles: 6×12, 5×16, and 1.5×3 inches.
- Cut an angle at both ends of the 5×16 rectangle for the tail.
- Fold each into a tube and sew (or hot glue) along the edge, right sides together.
- Turn the tubes right-side-out.
- Form the 6×12 and 1.5 x 3 pieces into loops and sew them together.
- Layer the 6×12 loop over the 5×16 tail piece (folded), then pull the small loop over them to form a bow shape.
- Twist a pipe cleaner on the back for hanging.
Styling tip:
Add to your tree, pin onto stockings, or attach to wrapped gifts.

3. Gold-Dotted Ornaments with Velvet Bows
Elegant and simple — Pottery Barn vibes on a Dollar Tree budget.
Supplies
– Clear ornaments
– Gold craft paint (Amazon)
– Small brush
– Velvet ribbon (Amazon)
Instructions
- Dip the end of a paintbrush into gold paint and dot the ornament.
- Let dry completely.
- Tie a velvet bow and attach to the top.
Pro Tip:
Rotate velvet ribbon on the final loop so the velvet faces outward for that luxury look.

4. Ribbon Tabletop Trees
These whimsical ribbon trees look straight out of Anthropologie.
Supplies
– Foam cone (Dollar Tree or Amazon)
– Satin ribbon
– Hot glue
Instructions
- Cut ribbon into small 2-3 inch strips.
- Fold each strip in half and hot glue along the bottom of the cone with the folds facing sideways.
- Work upward in rows until the tree is covered, overlapping the rows.

Styling tip:
Display a pair on a console, mantle, or dining table.

5. Red Wax Bow Taper Candles (Pottery Barn Inspired)
Striking, sculptural candles that look fancy but are surprisingly simple.
Supplies
– White taper candles
– Red wax craft sticks (Amazon)
– Hair dryer
Instructions
- Warm a wax stick in your hands until pliable.
- Shape into two loops to form a bow.
- Press gently onto the candle.
- Warm with a hair dryer so the wax melts slightly and binds together.
Styling tip:
Use different wax colours to match each season.

6. Holiday Tree Art (McGee & Co. Inspired)
Vintage holiday art without the high price tag.
Supplies
– Small frames (Dollar Tree or HomeSense)
– Vintage-style art prints (Amazon)
– Greenery or garland
Instructions
- Print art and trim to size.
- Place into small frames.
- Style on shelves, a coffee bar, or entryway with a faux greenery garland.
Styling tip:
Lean the frames instead of hanging for that casual designer look.

7. Gold-Frame Pet Ornaments (Pottery Barn Inspired)
Sentimental, personal, and adorable.
Supplies
– Small gold frames (Amazon)
– Gingham fabric scraps
– Mini printed photos
– Ribbon
Instructions
- Cut fabric to fit inside the small frame.
- Print tiny photos of your pets and trim to size.
- Place inside the frame and and hange!
Styling tip:
Mix these among classic ornaments to make the tree feel personal and cozy.

8. Gingham Bow Stockings (Anthropologie Inspired)
These look like boutique stockings, but they’re made from an Amazon bedsheet.
Supplies
– Gingham sheet set (Amazon)
– Quilt batting (if desired for a stocking with more body)
– my free stocking pattern
– Sewing machine
– Velvet ribbon for the hanging loop
Instructions
- Cut four stocking pieces (two outer, two lining) and two cuff pieces. (Optional: cut an additional two stocking pieces from the quilt batting).
- Sew outer pieces right-sides together, then the lining right sides together with a 1/2″ seam allowance (optional: sew the quilt batting pieces with the lining).
- Add cuff to the exterior piece.
- Insert lining into the exterior and sew around the top, leaving a 3 inch hole.
- Pull the stocking right-side out through the hole, and stuff the lining in side.
- Hand stitch the hole shut.
- Attach a velvet loop and add a bow to finish.
Styling tip:
Use the remaining sheet fabric to wrap a few gifts and tie the theme together.

9. Velvet Bow Garland (Pottery Barn Inspired)
One of the easiest projects on the list, but so beautiful.
Supplies
– Velvet ribbon (Amazon)
– Jute twine
– Hot glue
– Faux greenery garland
Instructions

- Hot glue bows along a length of jute twine.
- Layer over garland on a mantel or shelf.

10. Lit Bottlebrush Centerpiece
Pottery Barn: over $100.
DIY version: under $15.
Supplies
– Bottlebrush trees (Dollar Tree)
– Scrap wood (I used a 2×2)
– Fairy lights
– Hot glue
Instructions
- Glue bottlebrush trees onto a scrap piece of wood.
- Wrap fairy lights around the base and trees.
- Place down the center of your table.
Styling tip:
Set the lights on a timer so they glow every evening. Instant Christmas magic.
