Dear Friends,
If you’re reading this, you’re part of a community that has meant the world to me for the past (almost!) 16 years. Whether you discovered The DIY Mommy through a Pinterest Pin, stumbled across a video while planning your home renovation, or have been following along since those early blogging days—thank you. You’ve been an essential part of this journey.
Today, I’m excited to share some news that’s been in the works for a while: The DIY Mommy is becoming Cozy DIY Home.

Our Journey Together
When I started this blog in 2009, I was a young mom looking for a creative outlet while navigating the early years of parenthood. The name “The DIY Mommy” perfectly captured that moment in time: a mom sharing do-it-yourself projects from the trenches of early motherhood.
Those first posts were simple: nursery crafts, budget-friendly home decor, and the occasional parenting reflection. My workspace was the kitchen table, my photography was… let’s just say “developing,” and my audience was a small but encouraging group of fellow young moms.
Fast forward 16 years, and what a journey it’s been! Together, we’ve:
- Renovated multiple homes from top to bottom
- Created hundreds of DIY projects, from simple crafts to major furniture builds
- Built a community of millions across our blog, YouTube, Instagram, TikTok and Pinterest
- Collaborated with dream brands and retailers
- Launched a bedding & home decor brand, Cozy Prairie Linens Co.
- Most importantly, connected with each other over our shared love of creating beautiful, functional spaces
Through all the growth and changes, one thing has remained constant: this community’s enthusiasm for approachable DIY projects that make a house feel like home.

Why Cozy DIY Home?
As my children have grown (the “baby” I started blogging about is now driving a car!), and as our content has evolved to encompass whole-home projects, renovations, and design principles, I’ve been reflecting on how our brand name could better reflect who we’ve become together.
Cozy DIY Home captures the essence of what we create here: warm, inviting spaces made with our own hands. It reflects our focus on whole-home projects while maintaining the DIY spirit that’s always been our foundation.
The word “cozy” isn’t just about throw blankets and warm drinks (though we love those too!). It’s about creating spaces that tell your story, that welcome friends and family, that function beautifully for real life. It’s about that feeling when you walk into a room you’ve poured your heart into designing. It’s about a home that wraps around you like a hug at the end of a long day.
What Stays the Same
I want to reassure you that while our name is evolving, the heart of what we do remains unchanged:
- Same creator: I’ll still be here, sharing projects, ideas, and occasional glimpses into our family life
- Same content quality: The tutorials, videos, and inspiration you’ve come to expect will continue
- Same community focus: Your comments, questions, and project shares will remain central to what we do
- Same approach: Approachable, budget-conscious DIY with a focus on beautiful results
Looking Forward
This evolution opens the door for some exciting new content directions:
- More whole-home approaches to DIY, helping you create cohesive spaces
- Expanded room makeover series showing the entire process from planning to finishing touches
- New focus on “forever” projects—quality builds meant to last generations
- Enhanced seasonal decor and entertaining content
- More in-depth design guidance translated into approachable DIY applications
I’ve been quietly working on several new series that I can’t wait to share in the coming months. This refresh has reignited my creative spark in ways I hadn’t anticipated!

Frequently Asked Questions
Will old content still be available? Absolutely! Every tutorial, post, and video will remain exactly where it is, just under our new brand name.
Why change after 16 years? Brands often evolve to better reflect what they’ve become. As our content has grown beyond early motherhood DIY to encompass whole-home projects and design principles, it felt like the right time for our name to evolve too.
Will you still share parenting content? Family life will always be part of the fabric of this blog, but our primary focus will continue to be home DIY projects, just as it has been for the past several years.
How can I provide feedback on the change? I’d love to hear your thoughts! Comment on this post or reach out on social media.
Thank You
