Today I’m sharing six gorgeous DIY Dollar Tree coastal decor projects that are affordable, beginner-friendly, and truly useful around the house. Whether you’re styling a summer shelfie, decorating a guest room, or giving your entry table a mini refresh, these crafts will give your space that cozy seaside charm… without the cost.

There’s something about coastal decor that instantly makes a space feel lighter, calmer, and more collected. But achieving that dreamy beachy look doesn’t have to mean shelling out for designer price tags. If you’re looking for creative ways to bring those laid-back, sunwashed vibes into your home, this post is for you.
Each of these ideas uses Dollar Tree items (yes, really!) combined with simple supplies you might already have at home. Let’s get started!

1. Fabric-Covered Decorative Books
These little fabric-wrapped books are such a simple touch, but they add instant texture and that layered, designer look to your coastal vignettes. I used hardback books from Dollar Tree (you can choose any size), scrap coastal-style fabric I had on hand, and a glue gun.
How to make them:
- Cut your fabric to size, like you’re wrapping a gift.
- Use hot glue to secure the edges neatly along the inside of the front and back covers.
- Stack a few with twine or place under a vase for a breezy, polished look.
These are perfect for styling shelves, coffee tables, or even a guest nightstand.

2. Sisal-Wrapped Coastal Tray
Start with a plastic tray from Dollar Tree’s kitchen section, and turn it into a natural-looking decorative tray that works perfectly for holding candles, perfumes, or trinkets.
How to make it:
- Grab a roll of Dollar Tree jute cord.
- Starting at the top center, glue the rope in a spiral or wrapped pattern.
- Continue until the entire surface and a few inches of the bottom rim is covered.
The texture feels like something from a high-end home store, but it costs less than a latte.

3. Coastal Candleholders with Pebbles
Candles always add coziness, and when you dress them up with a little coastal flair? Even better. I used clear glass Dollar Tree candleholders, filled the base with small white pebbles, and added a simple white pillar candle on top. Wrap the outside with a bit of jute twine for texture.
Style tip: Group these in threes on a tray or place one on each bathroom counter for a spa-like feel.

4. Dried Floral Coastal Art
This DIY Dollar Tree coastal decor project is so charming and customizable. I used a Dollar Tree frame, cut up a plaid Dollar Tree scarf to create a soft fabric backing, and hot glued a dried palm spear on top for a natural focal point. You could also use any dried grasses or even driftwood you find on a beach walk.
How to make it:
- Remove the glass from your frame.
- Wrap the backing in fabric and glue it down.
- Attach a palm spear or dried floral with hot glue.
It’s the perfect accent for a bathroom shelf, hallway wall, or above a nightstand.

5. Mod Podge Vase with Napkin Print
This project looks way more advanced than it is! I took a globe-shaped vase from Dollar Tree and gave it two coats of white paint. Then I used Mod Podge to apply torn pieces of blue-and-white printed napkins in a patchwork pattern.
How to make it:
- Paint your vase white and let dry.
- Tear napkin layers to expose the printed side (remove all the plys but the top layer.
- Use a sponge brush to apply Mod Podge to the vase and smooth the napkin pieces on top.
- Finish with a top coat of Mod Podge to seal.
The result looks like coastal pottery you’d find in a seaside boutique.

6. DIY Coastal Cake Stand or Tray
This is one of my favorite DIY Dollar Tree coastal decor hacks! I took a pretty blue and white shell-print plate from Dollar Tree and glued it to the bottom of a white ceramic bowl (also from Dollar Tree!) turned upside down. Just add strong glue and let it dry overnight.
Ways to use it:
- Style it with soaps in a guest bathroom
- Use as a candle stand on a table
- Place jewelry or keys on it by the entry
It’s simple, functional, and adds a fun designer touch.
