Mandarin & Cranberry Cosmopolitan – a Christmas cocktail!

If you’re looking for a signature Christmas cocktail to make for your Holiday gathering this year, THIS mandarin orange & cranberry cosmopolitan is IT! It’s a beautiful blend of sweet and sour, and it looks gorgeous on the table.

Christmas Cocktail - this beautiful cranberry mandarin orange Cosmopolitan is a beautiful Holiday cocktail!

When Burwood Distillery sent me their Cranberry Mandarin Orange Gin, I knew exactly what I wanted to create with it: a classy Cosmopolitan Christmas cocktail! I love how this drink turned out, and I think you & your Holiday guests will love it too.

Burwood Distillery is a local Alberta distillery, and I made a simple cocktail with another one of their Winter Festival gins right here. Cosmopolitans are traditionally made with vodka, but I love the gin swap for this one!

Ingredients

  • gin
  • triple sec
  • cranberry juice cocktail
  • fresh lime juice
  • orange peel
  • fresh cranberries
  • ice

See recipe card for quantities.

Instructions

  • Fill a cocktail shaker with some ice, and then add all of the ingredients except for the orange peel and cranberries.
  • Cover the shaker and shake the cocktail until it’s cold – about 20 seconds.
  • Strain the cocktail into a chilled martini glass.
  • On a bamboo skewer, place the orange peel and cranberries to create a waving pattern.

Hint: chill your martini glass for at least 30 minutes before pouring the drink – it will elevate this drink even more!

Substitutions

  • Gin – instead of gin, you can use vodka
  • Cranberry Juice cocktail – swap the cocktail juice for cranberry kombucha for a different taste
  • Lime – use fresh lemon juice instead of lime juice for a different spin on this drink

Top tip

The orange peel and cranberry garnish makes this festive drink look extra special! Make it by using a vegetable peeler to peel off a 3″ strip of mandarin orange peel, then wrap it around 3 fresh cranberries on a bamboo skewer. Use the skewer to garnish your special Christmas cocktail.
