Hello again, friends! If you’ve been following along for a while, you know that we completely renovated one of our cottages, our Tiny Lake House, to transform it into an adorable little income property. It’s been a labor of love with countless decisions about design and functionality. These are both super important factors when working with such a tight space! One of the highlights of the renovation has been the installation of our mint green vintage style kitchen appliances. They’re the perfect pop of color in the cabin! And after living with them for over a year now, I’m sharing my thoughts, experiences, and recommendations.

We’ll review the ins and outs of these appliances, including features, performance, operation, and capacity. Whether you’re considering a similar renovation or just love vintage design, keep reading to see how these retro appliances have performed in our cozy lakeside retreat.
Big Chill: The Refrigerator
When I first started thinking about the style and design of our little kitchen, I knew I wanted to WOW our future guests. Because the Tiny Lake House is only 467 sq ft, we needed something to really pack a punch. I wanted the cabin to offer the same modern functions as our home kitchen but still maintain a touch of nostalgia. Enter Unique Appliances. Their retro kitchen appliances come in the same color options as the old appliances your grandma used to bake your favorite childhood cookies: mint green, robin’s egg blue, ocean mist turquoise, white, and stainless steel finish, too!

We’re absolutely in love with our mint green retro refrigerator, and it’s always a hit with our guests! Every time someone new visits, we get compliments about how cool it is (pun intended). Its narrow profile (only 9 cubic feet of space) and bottom freezer make it absolutely ideal for a small kitchen. And despite its compact size, the fridge offers plenty of storage. It’s cleverly designed to maximize every inch of space, so we never feel like we’re running out of room. Functionality-wise, this fridge is perfection – it stays at just the right temperature, keeping all our food fresh and drinks chilled.
One of the cutest features of the retro fridge has to be the matching ice trays. They add a bit of whimsy, which always brings a smile to my face. Another great feature is the bottle storage rack – it’s SUCH a smart addition, making it super easy to store bottles without taking up too much space.
Overall, this fridge is a fantastic blend of style and practicality. If you need a kitchen appliance that’s both space-efficient and super functional with a bit of extra vintage style and charm thrown in, this is definitely the fridge for you!
Charming but Chatty: The Range Hood
Our range hood is one of the most adorable additions to the kitchen. Its design is so sweet and makes the whole cooking area feel more inviting. Every time we have guests over, they can’t help but comment on how lovely it is!
However, it’s a bit on the loud side. When it’s on, you definitely know it! That being said, it does a fantastic job of ventilating. Despite the noise, it’s effective at clearing out smoke, steam, and cooking odours, keeping our kitchen air fresh and clean. We can cook up a storm without worrying about lingering smells, which could be a potential issue in small spaces like the Tiny Lake House.

So, while it may be a bit noisy, the range hood’s performance and design make it a great addition to our kitchen. If you’re okay with a bit of extra sound, you’ll love it as much as we do!
Small and Mighty: The Stove
If you’re looking at compact, gas-powered stoves for your cozy kitchen, this is the one for you! There’s something about cooking with gas burners that just feels more professional and precise, whether you’re whipping up a quick weekday dinner or trying out a new recipe. The flames give you instant control over the heat, which is great for everything from boiling water to simmering sauce.

The Gas Oven Learning Curve
The oven, on the other hand, does come with a bit of a learning curve. Because it’s gas-powered, I’ve found that I often need to guide our guests on how to use it. Another thing to note: if the oven hasn’t been used in a while, it can be a bit tricky to light. But once you get the hang of it, it works just fine.
Despite these quirks, the small size is a big plus for those of us with limited kitchen space. It fits neatly without compromising on performance. And it looks so, so beautiful! The mint green with those black and chrome accents? Gorgeous.

Overall, it does a solid job. There’s definitely a bit of a learning process, but once you get used to it, it’s smooth sailing. If you have some patience and you’re ready to experience the cooking power of gas, this classic retro stove and oven combo would be a great addition to your kitchen!
All in all, our mint green vintage-style appliances from Unique Appliances have been a fantastic addition to our Tiny Lake House. The fridge is a real standout, keeping everything fresh while fitting perfectly in our small kitchen. The range hood, although a bit loud, does a great job at ventilation. And, the gas stove has made cooking super enjoyable, despite the oven’s slight learning curve.

I’m so happy I decided to go the vintage style appliance route. They have added so much fun and function, making our cozy kitchen both beautiful and practical. If you’re into the iconic styles of the 50s, renovating a historic home, or just want a splash of color with modern convenience, these appliances are the perfect choice.
