Learn how to make a warm & cozy looking chunky knit hat and mittens with this free knitting pattern. These are quick to knit, a wonderful project to take on if you’re relatively new to knitting, and they also make lovely Christmas gifts!

I’ve recently re-found my love of knitting. 10 years ago I used to knit obsessively, but since I’ve had kids (and a blog, and a YouTube channel etc!) I haven’t been able to find the time. Now that the kids are a wee bit older, I’ve picked the craft up again and remembered how calming and stress relieving it is. It helps me relax, stop scrolling through my phone mindlessly, and I love all the things I can make! (Check out my Instagram account to see some of my recent sweater knits, and I also knit the one pictured using a We Are Knitters kit.)

Inspired by the chunky knit hats and mittens I’ve been seeing in stores this Fall, I created these super-duper easy knitting patterns to share with you today. These patterns will create a hat and mittens set to fit most women, and I’ll try to expand the pattern for men and kids one day soon too if there’s interest. I’m definitely making the hats for most of my family and friends this Christmas, so if any of you are reading this I hope you’re not sad that you won’t be surprised!

The patterns are below, and I’ll also embed some helpful YouTube videos featuring some knitting basics from some of my favourite knitters there. I think learning to knit via video is a great way to get started, or refresh your skills!
